Take A Walk in the Park for Parkinson’s on Sunday 18 August
Join Victoria’s largest community event dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Parkinson’s.
This annual event brings together thousands of people in an uplifting show of unity, encouragement and support.
Federation Square will come alive from 9.30am with pre-walk entertainment including warm up, live music, kid-friendly activities and a traditional sausage sizzle.
The Walk commences at 11am, starting at Federation Square and taking a leisurely path along the banks of the iconic Yarra River, before returning to Federation Square.
Both the 2km and 4km courses are mobility friendly, suitable for wheelchairs and prams. There will be toilet stops and water stations along the way.
People take A Walk in the Park for many reasons:
Living with Parkinson’s – it’s the one day of the year they can walk proudly with a community of people who care and understand what life with Parkinson’s is like.
Love and support – as a family member or friend, this is the one day of the year they can band together to show they are ‘in this together’.
In memory – many walk in memory, donning emblazoned t-shirts and balloons, memories and smiles, encouraging others to keep fighting.
United in support – some are part of the wider community touched by Parkinson’s in a tangible way and know that we all need to unite together in support of the Parkinson’s community.
Whatever your connection, show your support and register for A Walk in the Park.
